Welcome to my Signature Art Gallery...
Thoughts on my latest Solo Show "THRESHOLDS"
"We pass through many phases of life and at times are somewhere between thresholds. We leave some and approach others. I strive to interpret feelings, emotions of change, and sense of place through my work. I was personally affected by the recent Harris wildfire in Jamul. In the aftermath of these fires, my inspirational world has changed and I know those images will be reflected in my paintings."
Originally a Pennsylvania native, my early art education was founded in
classical artwork. I studied both textile design and environmental design.
Now living near San Diego, California for over twenty-five years, I find my
work has been a journey from a realist style to gradually more
non-objective. I am therefore influenced by the divergent landscapes of
both coasts and these "earthscapes" have been instrumental in my development as a painter.
I still create pen and ink drawings and realist artwork. But I feel my
non-objective work allows me to interpret natural elements and evoke
spirited emotions from the viewer. I blend gels and varnishes with
acrylic paint in order to create layers of texture and color. My inspiration comes from many sources, such as natural formations, an emotional thought, and or color scheme. I aspire to interpret the many forms found in nature from the flow of rivers, streams, and exposed earthscapes.
My paintings are in private collections. I have been part of several
gallery exhibitions, including solo shows.
